A security flaw was announced in the hosting control panel software used across the industry. As a precaution, the control panel login ports were closed at the network edge until the patch was available, an old WordPress remote-access feature that attack bots love was blocked for every site, and the attacking addresses of the day were blocked. Websites stayed up throughout.
